About Me

Hi! My name is Kimberly Cook, and I am a iSTEM M.Ed student (Inclusive Literacy pathway) at The College of New Jersey. I have always found pleasure in helping others, which has led me to a career in the education field.

Additionally, music has played a huge part in my life, further influencing my decision to attend TCNJ as an undergraduate. Well-known for its renown education program, TCNJ also offers high level music ensembles that welcome non-music majors like myself. I have been playing clarinet since 5th grade, and I was involved in the TCNJ Wind Ensemble, TCNJ Clarinet Choir, and TCNJ College Choir throughout my four years.

Aside from participating in multiple music ensembles at TCNJ, I was involved in three research projects. The first project was with Dr. Robert Cunningham from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. We used grading to explore preservice teachers’ valuation of student reasoning in mathematics. The second project was with Dr. Chyuan Pan and Dr. Anthony Conte from the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education, and we made Project-Based Learning (PBL) more approachable for both pre-service and in-service teachers. The final project was with Dr. Melissa Zrada from the Department of Integrative STEM, where we looked at students’ questioning patterns across the duration of a semester.

I am a member of the International Honor Society in Education, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, and was a founding sister of TCNJ’s chapter of the International Music Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota.
